Tuesday night saw the start of the 2006 ISA season, and the Dynamoes attempt to retain their title for the forth time in a row.

With Fig and Keeley still away playing happy families in the US, Erin not coming home this year cos she's in  love and Fr. Kevin heading back to Philadelphia, a  few new players were needed to fill the gaps left behind, so with Hana joining from the Czech  Republic and Richard, Sam and Jeff all in from Canada, the Dynamoes have added some new talent to help keep the Greens and Batpak at bay. BC has already found out about Hana. Toasted in left field at the blitz last week. Sorry Brian.

The first game of the season saw the Blazzers travel the short distance to Alexandra. They made a slow start just getting one batter on, finding the Dodder infield very tight. Jens the Blazzer lead off hitter smashed a line drive down the third base line only to find Noeleen waiting for him, who gunned him out at one.

Johnny Mc lead off the first innings with a blistering line drive just passed the Blazzers first base girl, who didn't have time to do anything about it. The ball ended up in deep right field, and Johnny on third. Two batters later Ken sacked Johnny in and the first run of the season was on the board. With two out it looked like it would be a quick inning, but Ruth got on with a single and then Carl stepped up and but a sharp line drive into deep right field and it was 3-0 to Dodder.

The second inning started with Derek giving up two quick walks, but a tough Dynamoes defence bailed him out, cutting down the next three Blazzers batters in quick order to close out the threat. The Blazzers responded quickly sitting down the Dynamoes only giving up a double to Johnny Mc.

In the third the Blazzers got on the board when Jens got on base with an infield single and was moved around the bases with some good Blazzer hitting. But the game was about to turn. With the game 3-1, Dodder knocked in nine runs over the next two innings to effectively end the game.

Ruth got on with an error, Carl hit a double, then two batters later JC smashed a 2 RBI line drive into right field, Martine scored JC with a single and the game was starting to slip away from the Blazzers. Another error and some good hitting saw another two runs in to close out the inning.

In the forth, Ken got on with a single, then stole second while the Blazzers were asleep, then  with a fly ball by Ruth, he score from second. Carl added another HR with his best hit of the day. Singles by Hana, Martine and a double by Derek put another few runs on the board.

In the fifth Franky in for Johnny Mc, got on with a single and was move around to score the only run of the inning, as some tactical changes started to take effect of the Blazzers.

At the top of the sixth the Blazzer came out fighting. Three quick singles and the bases were loaded. We needed an out, Ruth and Lisa helped out hitting into two fielder choices. But with a line drive by John E, hits by Jens and Kevin, and an error, five runs were scored to give the score line some respectability.

The top of the last saw the Dynamoes tighten up. Noels robbed Luis of an extra base hit when she got her glove on a ball scorched down the third base line and just like in the first she gunned the runner out. The shrug of the shoulders gave it away that she knew nothing about the line drive, but she took it anyway. JC closed out the win catching his fifth fly ball of the game.

All in all, a good start to the season. Some good hitting by JC and Carl to follow on from the Blitz at the weekend. Hana in her first start as a Dynamoe was solid on one. Noels had the two best plays of the day earning her girlie MVP. Carl gets the lads MVP by default as nobody else was outstanding. Even with an error, he hit 3 for 4, with a double and 2 HRs and 3 RBIs, and with 2 outs and 2 assets he was solid in the field as well.

Good to see Franky back after spending last summer in California.

Well done everybody, next up Slammers at home in two weeks.
